June Art Outlook: Gallery edition
Friday, June 1, head down to Tacoma for a benefit art auction at Art Concepts on Broadway (924 Broadway Plaza in Tacoma) to raise funds for tthe 555 Able Soldier and Family Fund. The silent auction features art work from many Northwest artists in a variety of media and proceeds go to a non-profit organization that helps provide goods and services for the families of soldiers killed in action and in training exercises, to wounded soldiers and their families during hospital rehab, and to deployed soldiers and their families
This month Christoff Gallery celebrates their second anniversary and hosts a show that includes some great visual artists: party artist Andrea Heimer, Seattle cartoonist Ellen Forney, and vinyl artist Mike Poetzel. Opening reception is June 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the show runs through the first week of July.
June 2 and 3 head over to San Juan for the annual San Juan Artists’s Studio Tour which takes place from 10 am to 5 pm and gives you a chance to 12 working studios with over 31 participants. Work on display includes sculpture, jewelry, pottery, printmaking, glass, fiber and fine art.
June is the annual photography show at Art/Not Gallery–all types of photography (film and digital) are included in a show that has no theme, creating a very diverse and interesting show.
It’s always a photography show at Benham Gallery; this month see an exhibit of works by photojournalists Dirck Halstead and Tammy Cromer-Campbell. (Artist Reception, June 7th, 6-8; Book Signing June 9th, 6-8 )
Melissa Moss puts her background in color psychology to work painting on wood with acrylic & gouache–see her art at Blue Bottle Gallery June 1 through the end of the month.
