A SIFF Gift - Just from Us

Do you love film? Do you love SIFF? Does the prospect of over 300 unique movies have you salivating? Do you look at the SIFF schedule [#] and panic because there are so many movies you want to see? Well, friends, we can help.

Directly from Metroblogging Seattle… it’s the super-duper, extra-shiny, colorful, informative, and importable SIFF SCHEDULE!

Instructions follow after the jump.

We’ve actually got two shiny new files for you. The first is for Microsoft Outlook [Download ICS file] and the second is for Google Calendar [Download CSV file]. So now that you’ve downloaded one of these shiny new files, what do you do with it? Well, here are your options.

Import into your Outlook Calendar:

  • To import this file into your Microsoft Outlook calendar, just click the link above and save the file to your computer.
  • Within Outlook, navigate to your Calendar folder. From the File menu, choose Import and Export.
  • From the “Choose an action to perform” list, pick ‘Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs)’ and click Next.
  • Find the file you just downloaded and click OK. You can then choose whether to open this calendar as a new calendar or import its items into your calendar. I recommend opening it as a new Calendar.

That’s it - you’re done. The movies are all there with locations, start and end times, and the code for purchasing tickets in the body of the calendar item.

    Import into your Google Calendar

  • Open your Google Calendar. I recommend creating a new calendar for this if you use your Google Calendar for your main calendar. (To do this, look for the Calendars box on the left side of the page and click the plus icon to add a new calendar. When you’re done, you can continue with the import.)
  • In the upper right hand corner, click on Settings.
  • Click Import Calendar.
  • Click Browse to select the file you downloaded above.
  • Click Open.
  • Choose the calendar you want to store the events.
  • Click Import.

Again, you’re now done. You can even share your Google calendar with others so they can see your SIFF schedule.

NOTE: Technically you can import the ICS file into your Google calendar as well. However, I’ve had issues doing this and only a dozen of the events import properly. I highly recommend using the second link if you want to download the schedule into your Google calendar.

NOTE 2: This schedule is up to date as of 5/22/07.

ICS also works with the Vista Windows Calendar. This is great!
