Wednesday Agenda: Words and Music

  • Michael Chabon, author of The Yiddish Policeman’s Union, Wonder Boys, and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, among others, is speaking tonight at Elliot Bay Books. 7:30 pm, free
  • The Bravery plays tonight at El Corazon 7 pm doors open, 8 pm show starts, $17
  • Kristin Hersh is playing tonight at the Tractor Tavern in a Rock for Real Change show.9 pm, $15 If you needed more of a reason than the words Kristin Hersh and Rock for Real Change, consider our own Dylan’s proclamation.

I love Kristin Hersh for three reasons: She’s never been afraid to
confront her bipolar disorder in music, sonically she takes me back to
my depressive college rock days of the 80s and 90s, and she’s still a
looker at 40. Oh, and she named her first son Dylan, so she has that
going for her, and she didn’t name a daughter Dylan, and I really,
really, really don’t like people who name their daughters Dylan. It’s
not a girl’s name, people. It’s like naming your daughter Zeus.

ha! I was sort of joking about the Bravery, but maybe they will be pretty great in a small venue like el corazon.

Or you can hit the supermarket and pick up some fresh Copper River salmon and have a great, albeit expensive, dinner! =)
