Weekend Agenda, Outside Edition

- Saturday is Opening Day on the Montlake Cut and Union Bay, hosted by the Seattle Yacht Club. The Windermere Cup crew races start at 10:20am, featuring teams from UW, Purdue, and New Zealand’s Waikato University, followed by the “Musical Memories”-themed boat parade at noon. And don’t forget to point your car away from the Montlake Bridge at all costs. [seattle yacht club]
- Believe it or not, Alpental is still open, although conditions last weekend were hardly optimal. Nevertheless, the ski area is forging ahead with a Cinco de Mayo ski party. Lift tickets are $5, and there’s even a costume contest with first place winning a season pass (for next season). Unless you’re heading up to Whistler this month, this is probably your last chance for the season. [summit at snoqualmie]
- Seattle Tilth’s Edible Plant Sale runs Saturday and Sunday, offering “the largest selection of organically grown heirloom vegetable starts in Seattle for the discerning vegetable gardener, including over 50 varieties of tomatoes and 20 varieties of peppers.” There’ll even be free workshops to help you avoid killing those pricey heirloom vegetables. - Finally, the U District farmers’ market returns to full operations on Sunday, open 9am-2pm. [seattle neighborhood farmers’ markets]
