Injustices to Seattlites

My college friends and I are spread oh so graciously around the country, but still we like to get together and we all share a love of traveling. So we have been planning a trip to Guatemala. We had been sharing the hardships of expensive flights, but it was going to be worth it for this fun trip. Then they learned of this: Spirit Air. And now, they are flying from such other locals as LA and ‘the east coast’ for prices like $200, and I, up here in Seattle am still bemoaning the future of my credit cards.

Why can’t I get cheap flights to Guatemala. And no, booking a flight to LA and switching there does not work out, monetarily or time wise. I tried.

Where can you get cheap flights to from Seattle? Maybe I should propose our next trip to a place that I CAN get a discount airfare to!

If you plan far enough in advance, you might have luck with [Seattle-based] Farecast.

Speaking of Farecast, they have a nifty newish feature that shows you the best deals from x city, i.e. Seattle.

Dang it, and I was going to recommend Farecast too. There’s also kayak.com, and the ever-handy TravelZoo.com (but that’s more for when you aren’t sure where to go, you just know you want to).

Yeah, I got the prices off kayak, its the best I’ve found. Farecast doesn’t predict yet for Guatemala City, unfortunately.
