Advantages of Riding the Bus, Part One: Coffee

Last week while I was out running errands, I found myself at the Pike Place Market with time on my hands while I waited for my bus to come and the desire to get a latte somewhere other than Tully’s or Starbucks. Since I had time, I planned to walk up to Monorail Espresso, but got distracted along the way by Seattle Coffee Works [SCW site]. I’d been by before and noticed the large Seattle souvenir giftshop but somehow had missed noticing the coffee side of the shop. Too bad for me, I’ve been missing out on some great coffee. scw.jpg
Seattle Coffee Works offers a great selection of coffee choices, fresh pastries, free Wi-Fi and all the usual amenities of a good coffee place but what sets them apart is their drink option called “The Works”: three short double espressos served side by side, each prepared from the beans produced by a different local microroaster. (Roasters include Browns Coffee, Caffe Vita, Vista Clara and more.) All of the coffees are excellent and that they’re served to you on a silver tray just makes the experience all the much better. photo c. Seattle Coffee Works.

If it weren’t for me having to wait for my bus that day I don’t know how long it would have taken me to find out about Seattle Coffee Works but now that I have found them, I’ll definitely be choosing to go there more often. I definitely recommend them to any coffee fan. If you’re a construction worker with a hard hat or a cyclist with a bike in hand, they’ll give you a 10 percent discount.

I love that place. I went in Friday morning and had a freshly baked muffin that was delish. I also think it’s kind of funny that they’re sandwiched in the souvenir shop.
