Octopus week!
Whether you witnessed the hot octopus loving on Valentine’s Day [mb] or not, you owe it to youself to spend some time at the Seattle Aquarium [site] at some point between February 17 and 25th. Why? Because once again it’s Octopus Week!
Did you know that the largest octopuses in the world come from the Pacific Northwest? Did you know that these giant octopuses have three hearts each? And did you know that highlights of Octopus Week include daily hands-on activities and craft projects, talks and octopus feedings as well as octopus releases on both Saturday the 17th and Saturday the 24th wherein giant Pacific octopuses will be released into Elliott Bay and followed by divers folowing them to see where they go, live on the Aquarium’s video monitors. (That’s right, even cephalopods aren’t immune to the whole “reality TV” phenomenon.) Finally, did you know that the weekend of February 17 - 19 is the eight annual giant Pacific octopus census?
Now you do, anyway, and now you have absolutely no reason not to go. Octopuses rule.
