in other blogs: amazon zen
This morning, Seattlest relayed [#] a post that Consumerist picked up [#] from an L.A. Times article [#], in which the author noticed that Amazon’s prices change over time.
Yes, Virginia, our favorite local online retailer uses dynamic pricing (and they have a massive shipping operation, especially pre-holidaytime [flickr]). But what happens if they drop the price after that rabbit carcass you ordered [bb] hits your mailbox?
Here, though, is the true revolution. Timothy Noah uncovers Amazon’s 30-day price guarantee [slate]. As if he hadn’t already cemented his hero status by publicizing their customer service phone number (800/201.7575), he now reveals that directing your call to extension #7 and asking about the guarantee will get you the difference refunded. Of course, you could probably do it by e-mail, but why not go double-secret passwordy when you’re getting a little cash back.
Naturally, the Amazon Price Watch Tool [frozenwarrior] will help you keep an eye on the bottom line (relayed by Slate via Consumerist via fivecentnickel …)
