Two 71 buses jackknifed into each other and completely blocking traffic on NE 65th street is not an auspicious sign for Tuesday morning’s commute.

I was a passenger on the bus pictured on the left. It let folks off at the stop near the Italian restaurant pictured at left, but couldn’t resume its course up the hill. So 2 miles from my Sand Point area home, I embarked on a snowy journey. The time was about 7:00 pm.
Downhill from the incident, the road surface was still just slush, while the rest of the way up the hill had developed a capsule of slick ice. Articulated buses’ drive axles are in the middle, and in this case, the 71’s chainless tires spun in their tracks. I cannot report anything about the second bus.
I noticed this morning that all the busses had chains.

Glad you made it safely! I have no idea what the other bus is doing either — it’s a 71 but has the wrong direction sign in its window. It was stuck there from about 11pm to 1am, at least. Perhaps an impromptu way of blocking traffic while they try to rescue the first bus?
Getting that picture was pretty scary, my car’s ABS system came on constantly inching down the hill. Wonder what MetBlog’s additional coverage on automobile collision insurance is?
