  • In addition to writing novels, Heidi Julavits launched the war against snark as a founding editor of the Believer (a.k.a., my favorite monthly magazine for the past three years). Tonight, she’s stops by the Big Picture for Seattle magazine’s Book Salon, complete with cocktails, snacks, and a conversation with Christopher Frizzelle. [upcoming]
  • London’s Hot Chip [myspace] play fuzzy, sensitive, relentlessly chatchy and electro-soul [neumos]
  • Chin Up Chin Up strike an excellent balance of delicate and dense layering, energetic melodies, and accessible and engaging lyrics. Even better, they play a free show tonight. The fun’s courtesy of Camel cigarettes; so maybe you can even score some free merch to smoke while enjoying Fremont’s sidewalk nightlife. [nectar]

Did Chin Up Chin Up get their name from Bobby Knight?

it would be pretty awesome if they did, but I doubt it. Maybe they inspired him?

At the very least, I think that they’ll at least need to write a song about the incident.
