cafe culture, legislator style
Yesterday, KUOW (now pledgedrive free!) destroyed the cafe slacker stereotype with a story about local legislators using coffee shops as their base of operations [kuow]. Where was this expose during the free wifi hand-wringing? It’s easy to hate on the freelancers and students who turn their local espresso purveyor into cheap office space, but when the House Speaker resorts to paying seven dollars in latte fees for a full day’s desk rental, it’s quaint citizen outreach.
While Ed Murray apologizes for his Starbucks habit, Pat Thibaudeau comes out looking like a hero as the only pol who regularly frequents a non-chain shop (Le Fournil) for her constituent outreach and pastry cravings.
