For Those About to Walk : HopStop.com
Google Maps and Mapquest are great from getting to from point A to point B in your car, but what about those of us who prefer other means of transportation? Enter HopStop.com. HopStop allows people in select cities to get directions to their destinations using public transportation instead of cars.
The directions are very clear and look much like what you would see from Google Map directions. But HopStop addresses things that drivers wouldn’t care about, like describing the location of subway entrances and bus stop and measuring distance primarily in minutes. Other cool features include:
- sending directions directly to your phone or PDA from the site
- planning a multiple destination trip
- get directions or the locations of nearby subway and bus stops remotely on your cell phone or PDA with the HopStop Mobile service
The biggest problem I have with HopStop is pretty obvious – NO SEATTLE SERVICE! Please, take the time to contact HopStop and kindly ask them to add Seattle to their list of select cities. If you want, you can copy my message below.
Everyone together now, in your best AC/DC voice – FOR THOSE ABOUT TO WALK!

HopStop,
Thank you for building such an amazing website for those of us who don’t primarily use a car to get around.
I would like to request that you please add Seattle to your list of select cities. Seattle has a very extensive bus system and the web tools supporting it are quickly becoming antiquated. I know that I and the people of Seattle would greatly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Aaron O.
