By any other name

Did you miss it the last time around? Well, here’s your chance–the corpse flower is going to bloom at the UW Conservatory sometime this week [P-I]. The flower only grows in the wild in Sumatra, Indonesia, which is where our seeds came from. Our plant is about 5 feet tall and weighs somethng more than 80 pounds, which means, disturbingly, that it and I are about the same size.

These bloomings happen seldom enough outside of the rainforest that there’s actually a list of them [wiki]. The conservatory is at the north end of Volunteer Park and is open 10 - 7 every day.
