Monorail Espresso at Fifth & PIke has been in business since 1980 although the earliest I ever got a coffee there was circa 1987. I’m not really a regular there, although when I’m downtown and I want coffee, they are my first choice. Last Christmas day after saying goodbye to my visiting relatives I got a latte from Monorail Espresso and walked around downtown. Their coffee is good and the owner & staff are all friendly. For some time now, I’ve been meaning to try their maple syrup latte; this week I finally did. I’m a fan of maple but I wasn’t sure how maple and coffee would blend. The result? I’ve gone back for two more in two days after first trying it. They also offer many other flavors: I highly recommend the burnt creme flavor latte. |

Best coffee and service I’ve had in Seattle. They know what they’re doing and have patience in spades for people who don’t.
I’d like to bring your attention to Sumatra Lake Tawar, a wonderful non-traditional sumatra coffee. Tastes very maple syrup/molassesy, but also escapes the earthy/dirty flavors associated with most sumatra coffee. I’d gladly prepare some for you if you have any interest.
Michael, that sounds awesome. I don’t suppose it’s available decaf?
The coffee on Monorail Espresso is undoubtedly, the best for me. You can grab your favorite drink here today.
