weekend agenda: old friends, silver screen, brazilians, (and more!)

Boat Crocodile

lalala. everybody’s working for the weekend. some non-seafair items to keep you busy:

Friday

  • Sure, Harvey Danger have already released Little By Little a few times: on their website, on Bittorrent, on compact disc. Tonight, they rock out over the album being picked up by Kill Rock Stars. The latest version still comes with the original bonus CD, but now features new packaging and tracklistings. [neumos]
  • Casablanca. At Seattle Center’s mural stage. Free. If you don’t see the appeal of watching Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman lighting up the silver screen at dusk on a summer evening, I can only remind you of the scene where everyone at Rick’s sings “La Marseillaise” and hope that you come to your senses. [upcoming]

Saturday

  • The days of BOAT being one of Seattle’s secret local treasures [mb] are probably over. All of the cool kids with mp3blogs [yanp, gvb, stg, etc.] are all over their latest release, Songs That You Might Not Like. But for now, they’re still playing shows out in the wilds of Ballard for the practically-free price of six dollars. Catch them with twee-punk wonderkids Tullycraft, Voxy, and the Salteens. [sunset]
  • Carissa’s Wierd disbanding was more than a little traumatic for a lot of fans. The apparent disappearance of Jenn Ghetto and her onetime side projects S and Crictor made things a little harder to handle. The long absence comes to a welcome end when S takes the stage at the Crocodile in support of a Panda & Angel CD release. [crocodile]
  • Conventional wisdom says that Seattleites don’t dance at shows. The lineup at Neumo’s is bound to break any aspirations at statuesque music appreciation. Party music & mashups of the highest quality from Diplo combined with dance-rock from Brazilian world-citizens CSS provide one-two punch to knock the stillness out of the most sincere shoegazer. After all, that acronym stands for Cansei der Ser Sexy, not “cascading style sheets”. Word on the street [marathonpacks] is that you can expect the band to throw themselves, confetti, water, and bananas [!] into the crowd to keep things interesting. [neumos]

Looks like the Crocodile Cafe will be spending the weekend renewing their domain name. What’s on your calendar?
