highway nostalgia : sleater-kinney
Sleater-Kinney announced that after this summer’s tour, they’d be going on indefinite hiatus. As if this wasn’t enough bad news for local fans to take, they’re closing up shop without stopping by Seattle for a final show. Instead, it’s all about Portland, with two nights of sold out performances at the Crystal Ballroom.
For those of you who couldn’t get tickets fast enough or who are simply opposed to crossing state lines, you can listen to them playing in Washington tonight. The only catch is that the Washington in question is Washington, D.C., and the hearing them live requires your to huddle around the computer to listen to them playing a concert at the 9:30 Club [npr].
The show starts at 7 pm PDT, so gather your sweatiest friends, spill some beer on yourself, close your eyes, and plug your laptop into the stereo’s speakers. It will be almost like being there.
