bananafish : the why seymour posters

I STILL DON'T KNOW WHY SEYMOUR GLASS KILLED HIMSELF... Yet another reason to be glad that the poster ban was overturned [bb] a few years ago: flyers showing up around town in which people work out their literary frustrations. I really really hope that these are the work of someone who just can’t get over the death of the eldest Glass sibling and wants to talk to other people about it (J. D. Salinger and/or afficionados should direct their e-mail whyseymour@gmail.com) rather than some sort of viral marketing for a hardcore band from New York.

update (October 2006): the posters are back, on telephone poles and on the back page of the S.S. Marie Antionette’s ‘zine. Maybe we can expect the results of the art project later this year?

This makes me happy, and I am choosing to believe that it was indeed made by someone who is still upset by the way things happened for the Glass family.

I really really hope that he or she publishes the responses.
