Midnight at the Egyptian
Ed Wood was an interesting cookie, and nowhere is this more obvious than in this week’s midnight movie, Plan 9 from Outer Space. Unspeakable horrors from outer space paralyze the living and resurrect the dead! UFOs on strings! Zombies!
The movie was made in 1959 and so some people like to see it as a comment on McCarthyism, but really, it’s just a bad movie. It’s certainly so bad that it’s good, but it teeters on the edge of going back around again to being so bad it’s bad. In it, a couple of aliens set up shop in California to create an army of zombies that they intend to use to take over the world.
The Egyptian is showing a brand-new version of the movie–in color for the first time! And, according to the Egyptian: “On the same program: never-before-seen home movies (yes, watch Ed model his famous angora sweater and fishnet stockings!), rare Ed Wood commercials, Lost Plans 1-8 narrated by Mystery Science Theater 3000′s Mike Nelson, and more.”
You know that this is going to be too much fun to miss, right?

Despite the usual tag, I’d say this isn’t even the worst movie ever made…but it definitely is one of the BEST bad movies to watch.
