Seafair Continues

Seafair is just getting warmed up this summer with some awesome events coming up including the Miss Seafair Coronation at MOHAI on July 25th from 7:30PM to 9:30PM. $20 reserved seating is available and there are 17 attractive and talented participants this year. I’m betting on Nicole Sutherland myself.

The Southwest Airline Torchlight Parade (with a “Buccaneers of Yesteryear” theme) will be parading about on July 29th at 7:30PM with appearances from my favorite Seafair Pirates and their arch rivals the Seafair Clowns.

The Chevrolet Cup is celebrating 57 years of hydroplane racing on Lake Washington and this years races take place August 4th through August 6th. Also this is the weekend for the KeyBank Air Show where the Blue Angels will perform celebrating their 60th anniversary. There are several other air show acts scheduled that weekend too. All in all I guess it’s about time I hit some of these events myself. I’m still a Seafair virgin 15 years after coming to Seattle…

FIFTEEN YEARS and no Seafair? Get with it! We’ve been here almost that long and while it took a few years, and sometimes it’s schmaltzy, now it’s what we look forward to every summer. But if you go see the Blue Angels, don’t just go plop your rump on the shores of Lake Wash, go hang out at the Museum of Flight and watch them get into the planes, take off, land, get out. You can do that on Thurs or Fri and then still go see the official “show” over the weekend. The takeoff rocks you to the core. Literally and truly.

Get yourself on the logboom if possible. If not try going to the pits for a day. The boat racing and air show are unbelievable from the water. AND dont forget the partying. SEAFAIR is Mardi Gras for Seattle.
