Starbucks: UVillage location no longer all-nite

Sad news for late-night UW study owls: The enormous Starbucks in University Village (as opposed to the smaller ones next to Crate & Barrel and inside Barnes & Noble) is no longer open 24 hours a day. Coming somewhat unpatriotically on July 3rd, the change means there’s one less all-night venue in the U-District. Apparently there wasn’t enough business to justify staying open, although extra trash and cleanup costs in the store and surrounding parking lot seem to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. uvstarbucks.jpg

Long-time denizens of UVillage will remember that the SBC in the QFC used to be all-night, untill Starbucks bought the company and shifted the late-night service to its own branded store.

I would think not forcing their staff to work on July 4th would be patriotic and not un-patriotic.
