It’s a good week for skateboarding in Seattle: June 21st is Go Skateboarding Day!, a national event established some time ago to encourage everyone who skates to make a show of numbers and everyone who doesn’t to at least think about it. To be honest, I’m old and decrepit and prone to injuries but I’ll get on my board and skate a bit anyway.

This Saturday from noon to three the Ballard Bowl hosts the ninth Tuck Knee Tournament featuring some truly awesome skating, food, coffee and other fun, free stuff.

At some point this week, Diane Geurts, who blogs about skating for the P-I, will be posting the transcript of her talk with Scott Shinn of Parents For Skateparks in her blog.

Slightly outside the Seattle city limits, the City of SeaTac is hosting their second annual “Under the Lights” Skateboard Compeitition on Friday, June 23rd, starting at 6pm at Valley Ridge Park, next to Tyee High School.
