siff watch: fly films

For your Wednesday agneda, you might need to sneak out of the office a few minutes early, but this afternoon is the final screening of the entries in this year’s Fly Filmmaking Challenge [siff]. Local directors picked up scripts from SIFF’s screenwriter salon and turned them into short films in a short time. There’s a little something for everyone in this batch: a melodramatic vignette about the war, a documentary about band, a cute wordless lovestory, and funny take on cultural appropriation for commercial purposes. It’s pretty neat to see how your fellow citizens turned ten days of production into ten minutes of movies. (4:30 pm, Egyptian)

Tonight is also the Seattle opening of The Heart of the Game at the Guild 45th. =)
Man, Brad really is approximately thirty-seven feet tall, isn’t he?
good news about the Heart of the Game opening in Seattle. I didn’t get a chance to catch it at any of the festival screenings. Plus, I heard that all of screenings sold out; so it should do well now that it’s in wider release.
what you can’t see in that picture is that all of the other people in it are standing on boxes to make their heights more comparable with brad’s giantness.
