SEIU to Sonics: Not in OUR house

The Seattle Times reports today that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is planning an initiative campaign to block any tax subsidy that would beneft the Sonics.

Just in case any of you missed it, the Sonics have asked for a $220 million dollar expansion of the Key Arena. Taxpayers would be expected to pay for it–of course–but profits would go right into the pockets of the black-hearted, soulless…oh, wait, was I editorializing again? …pardon me. Profits would go to the Sonics, of course, because…uh… the multi-millionaire owners and millionaire players really need our tax dollars way more than the uninsured, unemployed or homeless. Enough is enough. I’ve been a basketball fan all my life but if giving a private enterprise like the Sonics money that rightfully belongs to the people of Seattle is what it takes to keep them here, well, all I can say is: hey, Sonics, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

The SEIU starts gathering signatures to support their initiative Wednesday. I can’t wait to sign.
