“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”

This is hard to write.

I’ve disappeared from the site lately – I’ve been overwhelmed with my own life. With finishing my thesis, graduating, and moving. Only, I’m not moving across town, or even into the suburbs. I’m moving across the country, to Albany, New York. And on the one hand, I’m thrilled; I was accepted to my dream graduate program, a joint program housed at Albany Medical College, The Graduate College of Union University, and University at Albany. I’ll be getting a Master of Science in Bioethics, and a PhD in Philosophy. It’s what I’ve been working at for years.

But there’s a downside, and that downside is leaving a city that has, in the last 6.5 years, become my home. Leaving my friends, and those friends who’ve become family.

I’m moving right after graduation, which means that my life is suddenly filled with lasts. The last time I’ll see the cherry trees in the Quad bloom, the last time I’ll walk around Pike Place Market, the last time I’ll guest recap Grey’s Anatomy for Josh, or even watch the show in the city it’s set in, the last time I’ll see the rain hitting the water and the fog and the rowers and and and.

And I’m realizing the things that I’ve never done or seen. I’ve never been to Gasworks Park. Or seen the Troll. Or been on the Underground Tour. I haven’t rode the ferry in several years, and I’ve never been on the water ferry to West Seattle. I’ve never even been to Cal Anderson Park, and I live mere blocks from it.

I’m going to try to do some of these things before I leave, but I’m not sure how successful I’ll be. I don’t have much time left. Whatever I get to, I’ll be sure to write about…and if you can think of neat nooks and crannies of the city I should see before I pack my final bag, please feel free to let me know – I’ll do my best to go, document, and report back.

I might post a few more times, I might not. So I’ll consider this my adieu, adieu.

Remember me and smile, for it’s better to forget than remember me and cry.

for the sake of your sayonara, I’d be willing to give up grey’s anatomy recapping duty to let you have one last guest recap of tonight’s double episode.

Haha, thanks. That seems like one of those things where it looks like you’re doing me a favour, but you’re really getting off the hook,… ;)

Sure, why not – one last hurrah!
