SIFF : open for business
Last night Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) Group members got a sneak peek at the lineup for this year’s festival. Tonight, it’s your turn, but it’s a bit of a road trip. The public preview will be held at 7 pm at Third Place Books (17171 Bothell Way NE / Lake Forest Park). Drop by [after our happy hour, of course] to find out about the more exciting selections among the hundreds of films to be screened over three weeks. If you can’t make the trip, the list will also be online this afternoon.
Speaking of the privileges of membership, the box office opens for members today. Everyone else will need to wait until Monday to put together their festival agenda. If you find something on the list of films that you simply can’t live without (or want in on member perks and discounts), there’s still time to join. [seattlefilm]. They’re hyping a new, more convenient, ticket system this year; so becoming obsessed with the festival should be easier than usual.

I can’t emphasize enough the wonderfulness of the full series pass for SIFF. Even at full price it makes the festival so great; you can choose your schedule at the last minute. One of these years I’ll be back in a place where I can be a Serious Fool.
I find SIFF sort of terrifying and overwhelming, so I’ve never been to any SIFF movies.
anita — the pass is definitely the luxurious way to go. it takes a lot of the overwhelming uncertainty out of the festival. unfortunately, it’s a pricey antidote.
samantha — don’t fear the SIFF. just look at the program and pick some movies that look interesting. it’s easy to get obsessed with finding the perfect schedule and succumbing to analysis-paralysis. but, especially now that you can buy 6 or 20 packs without committing to a schedule, it should be less stressful.
