Springtime = ducklings

Seems like yesterday was a slow news day for Eugene’s Register-Guard, because they were writing about something new at our own Seattle University.

But today’s a slow news day here on Eastlake (read: I haven’t yet even left my apartment), and in case you aren’t also in the habit of obsessively trolling the news for mentions of our fair city, I thought you should know the following: 13 ducklings have moved into the Seattle U campus [R-G].

The parents are a couple of mallards named Harold and Maude that have been coming by the same pond for years but have never before produced offspring. As there is apparently nothing else going on at Seattle U, “Campus security personnel placed a video camera on a nearby building and were johnny-on-the spot when a dog jumped into the pond. None of the ducklings was harmed.” Oddly, the university has not yet made use of this camera–there’s no “duckling cam” to be found anywhere on the website.

You can head over there to visit the ducklings (I won’t be, because I’m terrified of their mommy and daddy. Birds are some seriously freaky creatures), but you’ll have to stay 10 feet away.
