When BTW does not mean By The Way
Every year the whole “biking to work” thing takes me by surprise, and every year I briefly consider it except for the fact that the road I live on lies between two major roads, and I can’t figure out how to bike and survive at the same time. Now, if it was “no cars on the road” day, instead of “bike to work” day, I would at least gamely give it a try. Or how about “wear workout gear at work” day? Or at the very least, “come to work smelling sweaty” day.
For braver souls than I, here’s your usual reminder that Starbucks Bike To Work Day is on May 19th. For those of us in Bellevue who are a little timid about the whole thing around here, a good place to start locally (to me) is TransManage’s class on Commuting-By-Bike — next Tuesday on your lunch hour, if your lunch hour is 12PM – 1PM. (Contact TransManage to RSVP 425-990-3097, email@example.com)
And if that’s not enough, free stuff and free bike checks at commute stations.
But if Tuesday’s class fails to wow me, I promise to spend the hour at the gym, safely pedaling a stationary bike instead.
