Say hello to the new quarter

The Governor has chosen the leaping salmon design for our new state quarter, the same one that 45% of you favored [P-I]. She liked this one because it wasn’t as busy as the others, and because Mount Rainer and salmon are two of the state’s most recognizable features.

They’ll be in circulation sometime in 2007, the 42nd of the state quarters. So get your quarter collector folders ready.

    Good, I’m glad she didn’t pick the horrid clip-art or native orca.

    Still would have been awesome to get the double headed quarter :D

    double headed quarters are illegal. federal code, or something.

    I’m sad about the orca. It was really funny looking, but it would have been nice to have something less templatey. At least the clip art montage was taken down.

    Yeah, I voted for the orca–it was kinda cute.

    The Orca was quirky, I liked that. Most of the state quarters have been boring. I think money should be more entertaining than it is.
