choose your poison : more cafes offering alcohol

This is possibly old news (if so blame it on being out of town for the past two months), but the alcohol vs. caffeine question that always seems to come up when you’re trying to decide where to meet up with friends continues to get simpler. Vivace recently added a few beer options to their beverage menu at the Roasteria location on Denny Way. So, the next time you need to soak up wi-fi with a view of a water feature, you’ll have options for relaxation and caffeination.
Also relevant here is, Faire, a new cafe further down Olive Way in what used to be the western section of Fillipe’s Used Books. They’re also in the business of providing a hang-out environment for parties of fickle drinkers. The frenchy-labeled menu includes beer, wine, a few sandwiches, and baked goods (tempting white board option, $3.50 mimosa). The cafe is open until 1 am, has a current exhibiton of cloud-themed paintings on display over two floors, and offers plenty of cards & games on their shelves, making it an inviting hangout location for times when you’re caught between the gravity of downtown and Capitol Hill and Bauhaus is overfilled. The cappuccino I had this morning was a bit bitter for my tastes, but it is nice to see new (rather than closing) businesses in the Olive Way corridor.

There’s a coffee place on Steward that has a sign out front for “champagne fridays.” I keep meaning to check it out, because it looks like a coffee shop/wine bar.
Seems like the majority of the coffee shops here also offer beer and wine.
Samantha: I think you’re talking about Motore [mb. I got a cappucino and a chocolate chip cookie there last week, but didn’t spring for the champagne. They also sell fancy chocolates.
Tim: My guess is that alcohol at cafes is something of an anomaly here, but I could be wrong. I just remember when Solstice (on the Ave) added beer and wine to their offerings, it seemed revolutionary/apocalyptic.
Do you have an address or a website for Faire? Googling has turned up fruitless.
Thanks! I’ve been looking for a combo bar/coffeeshop with wifi.
Any other suggestions? I live in West Seattle (but work downtown).
