Bring it ON

Daringly, they were giving away free Coke BlaK samples right next to the Starbucks stand at my local (Evergreen Village) Safeway store. (Is that a declaration of war?) Having already heard the buzz (isn’t that always the way with the caffeinated beverages though? You feel the caffeine long before the drink comes over the horizon.), I’d been impatiently waiting and wondering. Was Seattle too caffeinated for Coke BlaK to enter the market?

So I’ll go one step better than the chicago review and say that Coke BlaK is like sucking on one of those hard, boiled-sugar coffee-flavored candies. And drinking a Coke at the SAME TIME.

Plus also, when are they going to bring in Diet Coke BlaK? Or how about, Coke BlaK With Cream??

What’s Starbucks’ answer to this going to be? Putting a little splash of coke in every cup of coffee?

This just in: Coke BlaK has twice the caffeine of normal coke, plus half the calories since you’re actually drinking coke C2, not real coke. Also, still less caffeine than a cup of coffee. The formula is “expected to vary based on local tastes,” so I expect we’ll have to get together and offer up a little bit of trading followed by some Coke BlaK tasting parties, real soon now.

Manuel, if you google “evergreen village” and safeway, you’ll see it’s in Bellevue.
