World’s worst commute
I’d just gotten on the 545 to make my way home from my Redmond workplace when the driver got on the intercom.
“They’ve closed the 520 bridge,” she said. “We’ll have to make our way down to I-90.”
And so our packed, over-crowded bus – filled with standing people – inched its way down 520 to the I-405 interchange. After an hour and a half, we’d made it from 148th Ave NE to about 124th Ave NE.
Two and a half hours after we started, we finally arrived at 4th and Jackson.
Whew. My admiration and sympathy to my fellow riders who stood all the way home.
WSDOT is working through the night to get the bridge fixed, but Metro thinks it may well still be closed by tomorrow morning. If you have to commute across the water, make sure you’ve got a backup plan in place.
Anybody got a good commute-from-hell story to share?

That sucks. Yeah, it took my boyfriend 3.5 hours to get home last night from Kirkland to Alki. Luckily cold beer was waiting at home for him.
