Outside the Super Bowl: The empty streets

As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve got no plans to be anywhere near a television today. I will, however, be out-and-about in the city, and will attempt to let you know what Seattle looks like completely devoid of people because of football–something that has certainly never happened here before. I predict fewer people than I saw wandering on Christmas, and expect the empty streets to occasionally ring with the cheers and groans coming from a whole bunch of apartments.

Additionally, the 12 flag has returned to the top of the Needle. I imagine they removed it for safety yesterday, lest the missing 12th man jinx the game. Or, uh, something.

Good luck with your parties, everyone, and enjoy the game!

While you’re out there, take note of how many businesses are closed due to the superbowl too. Kavu’s ballard store was closed, Madame K’s was closed, I think Volterra is closing at 2….

Fucking A KAVU was closed. I made a special trip to Ballard to get a hat. Now I have no hat and the fucking Seahawks lost.
