SayWA, the new Washington State Tourism brand is looking for photos. Photos with a message. Photos which say “you had to be there”. Your photos, of our beautiful state.

They’re collecting them on Flickr all this month (and probably for the rest of the year, because, guess what: 32,000 photos is a LOT of photos). But who knows? In spite of just being a couple of days old, the forum already has 556 photos, and 99 members. Now, that’s dedication.

On a sidenote, at last night’s photo meeting, members of the club voted unanimously to avoid the tulip festival like the Black Death. Among the reasons given:

• “it’s been done to death”

• “roads aren’t made to pull over on, yet people do it anyway”

• “lack of porta-potties”

• rumors of the next step being to charge photographers for taking photos (I don’t know how anyone would possibly be able to police this effectively)
