Sonics fire head coach Bob Weiss, promote Bob Hill [nba].
The Sonics have made this coaching change after a dismal 13-17 start to the season and a reported warning to shape up. Bob Weiss, the “Original Sonic” [nba], was made head coach after Nate McMillan defected to the Portland TrailBlazers last summer - not easy shoes to fill. Since then, Weiss has been well-liked among the players, but his laid back approach allowed the team to be lazy at times, especially on the defensive end. Weiss will remain in an “advisory role” for the team.
