Polar Bear Swim

Inspired by Kelly’s post [#], I headed out to Matthews Beach Park up on 93rd and Sand Point to document the craziness of those who would plunge into frigid waters as way of inagurating the New Year (as well as a bout of pneumonia).

The report: the event is big and getting bigger every year. Free cider for the dippees and the promise of an iron-on patch (only if you go up to your shoulders, apparently) seemed to be incitement enough these ursine enough to enjoy the arctic natatorium.

hey..as one of those “ursine” enough to have the hair to plunge…for the fourth time…don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.
in fact….meet me there in 2007 and I’ll outfit you properly to join us.
