Sometimes a rose is a rose is a rose. In the canine world, a hydrant is a hydrant is a hydrant. It’s a dog’s world and for the canines among us a hydrant is what the French call a pissoir. Perhaps gold hydrants will stain less than green.

Camera phones aren’t really notorious for perfect shots. :P You’ll have to take my word that it’s gold.

There is a lot of controversy about whether or not the city color-codes the hydrants according to water pressure available at each one. I’m not sure what the real answer is.

Looks silver to me! Anyway I love it. We need to liven this city up. How about some murals and great graffiti art?

Aplogies to the wanna-be artists, but I prefer the city’s default green color for hydrants. Green makes sense for Seattle. Even on Capitol Hill, the tacky gold doesn’t — although I can understand why they thought it might.

Well, if hydrants here are like where I grew up, where the color of the hyrdant actually conveys information about water pressure (iirc,) then I would consider this atrocious, horrible and something I’d be willing to see someone locked up over.

If the color of the hydrant *doesn’t* mean anything, I quite like it.
