Kitchen Stadium: Gettin’ it ON!

I grabbed for the Tivo remote and went back to the previous commercial. “Holy crap!” I swore, crassly, “did that guy just say Douglas? Did he mean TOM Douglas??”

“Who’s Tom Douglas?” asked the husband.

Who’s Tom Douglas? After I got done asking him if he had been dropped on his head at birth, I said two words. Dahlia Lounge. It’s only where we ALWAYS go when I need my creme caramel fix — the most perfect creme in the whole state, that’s what. Douglas is only like, the biggest chef name we’ve got in Seattle, and owns a bazillion restaurants.

And now he’ll be battling Iron Chef Morimoto (only one of the most famous chefs in the entire world) this Sunday, on my TV (and in re-runs all next week), on Iron Chef America on the Food TV channel. I love the Iron Chef show. I love it so much that when we first got the Food TV channel a few years ago, I watched all the episodes and gained about 10 pounds. Yep, I love it so much, I had to stop watching it. That’s my diet plan: don’t watch Iron Chef.

I found out, a little too late, that they’ll also be serving up the same menu on Sunday at the Palace Ballroom, but you know something, I’m ok with that. I don’t think I can really afford to fork out $95 per person on a meal right now, anyway. But on Sunday night, I’ll be parked in front of my TV with my mac and cheese, for sure!
