saturday: a choose or lose weekend

Saturday brings another of Seattle’s “rocktober” dilemmas. Do you go to the Stranger’s Genius Awards party to rub elbows with the creative class set during for helio sequence and shoegaze while spacerocker’s Voyager One play at the Seattle Art Museum (for free!). Or, do you throw a litle love to local re-formed indie pop outfit Harvey Danger for tossing their brand new album Little By Little out into the wild world of internet downloads for free and head down to the Crocodile for their CD release show where they’ll be supported by throwback emo-pop publicity hounds, the Lashes? On the other hand, you might be feeling the call of Brooklyn lit-rockers, the Hold Steady (name checked on this week’s Lost) who are bringing along Constantines, yet another of Canada’s increasingly long list of up-and-comers, for their Neumo’s takeover?

It’s enough to leave the best intentioned wanting to curl up in their apartments with Indecision. In the interests of helping the conflicted, here’s a playlist of free mp3s gleaned from the web. Listen to them in sequence and pick your favorite, or play them simultaneously Zaireeka-style to get a sense of what Saturnday night would sould like to someone with super-hearing.
