savage watch: reading tonight

Following a odd and off-topic rumble among readers in the Stranger’s online forums related to (possibly mock) outrage over Dan Savage linking to his book on Amazon.com instead of telling people to go to an independent retailer [#], Dan Savage will actually appear at a local bookstore tonight to try to sell copies of his new book. See & hear Seattle’s favorite alt-weekly editor and syndicated sex columnist for yourself at the Capitol Hill Bailey-Coy [#] tonight at 7, where he’ll be reading from the Commitment [$].
Of course, it will be on sale there, too. If you don’t consider shopping at Amazon buying locally.

previously / ways to read or hear the book without going to this event: Dan Savage on This American Life [mb] & in the New York Times [mb]. We’d have a review, except they forgot to send Metroblogging Seattle an advance copy.

    You should have asked.

Asking would just be a set-up for rejection. And it might mean that I’d need to actually read it, write about it, and affect an interest in arts criticism.

I even missed the reading. When I arrived, the store was at capacity and they were turning people away at the door.
