Another _very_ happy Speakeasy customer here. I've never had anything less than excellent customer service from them, on the (very) few occasions I've had to call in for tech support.

I've also just switched my phone service away from Qwest to use Speakeasy's VoIP option, so now I've got good, fast, trouble-free DSL _and_ phone service from Speakeasy. Couldn't be happier.

I'm a huge speakeasy fan. I switched to them from Qwest (the worst customer service in history) a couple years ago and I've never had a problem. Qwest kept upping my bill. Last year, Speakeasy called to tell me that I was getting more bandwidth, but that the cast was staying the same! That's what I call service.

I made the switch to Comcast cable after my Earthlink DSL went kaput, there have been instances when my Comcast was slow/went out, but not often. But, you let him/he messed with your computer? I think as with most things, your technician was sucky...it's hit or miss. Tsk. The only other "good" words I've heard for suggesting a connection is Speakeasy. And if you don't have it already, see if Cocktail (Google: "cocktail mac") checks if it's something NOT hardware related...if it is hardware related maybe go see the Mac store on 45th in the U-District.

Shauna, let me know what you find out. We have Qwest DSL which regularly is slower than molassas and were thinking about switching to Comcast. Now I'm scared.

I recently called Comcast about my internet bill. Here is basically what happened:

Hi, I'm in between jobs right now (not true) and thinking about cutting down my expensive cable internet bill ($56/month) to save money, so have been looking at different prices with other companies. Here is what other places are offering (throw out some numbers), which is around half of what I pay now.

Oh really, well we can give you $29 for the next six months.

Really, how about $25 for 12 months? (demand this repeatedly) Can't do that? Okay...well then I'll take the first offer.

Never forget to call your cable/cell/credit card companies and say you're going to leave them...they hate that. Do it every time your latest deal ends.
