death cab for cutie : hungry like the wolf

Video of last night’s [mb] Death Cab for Cutie cover of “Hungry Like the Wolf” is now online. NYC writer Jami Attenberg (whatever-whenever.net) had the good sense to sit on our row’s aisle seat and bring her camera. She posted part of the performance (part 1 [avi], part 2 [avi]). {2005-09-04 12:46:36}
update: for those who don’t want to download > 50 MB of video, I made streaming version [mov] and an audio-only version [mp3] for your enjoyment.

You left out the most !!! party - M. Doughty got up and played with them?
’scuz me while I fall over and kick the ground a while. It pained me to give up seeing M. Doughty, but vacation was a needed thing. But this, this is rubbing salt in an open wound!
er. Mike Doughty is clearly labeled in the photo *and* I mentioned him in the previous post. I feel like I’ve met my Doughty enthusiasm quota.
This was my favorite part of my three-day Bumbershoot. The combination of literary readings, comedy quiz show and surprise concert made a fantastic variety show.
I agree — Daniel Handler was a spectacular emcee, and the DCFC interpreations of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” were fantastic.
I heard about this yesterday. Apparently they played yesterday too. People kept coming up to me asking if I knew where DCFC were playing cause I was a volunteer. Thanks for the video!
I also have an MPG (about ~39 MB) of their first song, “Title and Registration”

thanks for that :)
it was an amazing thing to see from the front row! thanks for the media, but definitely don’t forget that this was Mike Doughty covering Hungry Like the Wolf with DCFC & Lemony Snickett backing him. but however you heard and/or saw it, it was amazing, so we can all be happy.
ah, thank you so so much. that event was magnificent.
incidentally, I’ve been asking around to see if anyone has any more video or audio of that event; say, Sarah Vowell (*swoon!*) reading her essay with Death Cab, or most especially any of Dave Eggers’ readings. I’ve been looking like mad for a transcript of the letter he wrote to that night’s audience; it was one of the most magnificent things I’d ever heard. I figure, especially since Ben was playing guitar under it, /someone/ out there’s got to have a recording of it.
