Rock it, don’t stop it, gotta rock it, don’t stop…

It’s Soul City Monday, tonight at The War Room.

Come out and watch local B-boys and B-girls heat up the dance floor to Planet Rock and other old school breakbeats.

Taking the spot of the now-defunct Blu Video Bar, The War Room is the new hot digs on Capitol Hill offering a swell space for serious breakdancers, funky dancers and folks who just like to bob their heads to good hiphop music.

With a meaningful slogan declaring “Peace Is Our Profession,” The War Room offers a cozy ambience, sufficient dance floor, cushy drinking lounge, hip art displays and a fabulous rooftop deck well-suited for summer night sippings.

Spiff up your nylon jumpsuit, put on your Kangol hat, lace up your retro Adidas, and roll in fresh.

The War Room is located at 722 E. Pike Street on Capitol Hill. Info: www.thewarroomseattle.com.

… AND they have a great deck upstairs!

Of course, to me the deck will always be the deck of Mandy Moore and Jena Malone at the post-Saved! SIFF gala, but it’s still pretty glamorous without the celebs.

Indeed, the outdoor deck is lovely. I’ve had many fond memories of late-night Cosmo-sipping moments at the former Blu bar deck, chillin’ with my boys after Sunday nights Sex and the City screening at Manray. Mmmm, good times.

I wish The War Room well and hope they’re here to last. Their offerings are quite promising, and their presence is also good for the sustainability of the Capitol Hill business neighborhood.
