vespa army?

Originally uploaded by joshc.

Last night, this assembly of motorscooterists congregated at the intersection of 12th and John. Once all were seemingly present and accounted for and an appropriate range of candy-colered Vespas were lined up, they departed without particular fanfare, taking their campaign to the south.

Looking at the calendar for the Vespa Club of Seattle, it doesn’t seem that any official events were scheduled. Perhaps an unofficial or impromptu outing?

updated: to say that no pun was intended by the “outing” in that last sentence. In the comments, Christina guesses that the ride was likely to have been the monthly meeting of “Scooter Queers Riding Everywhere and More” [s.q.r.e.a.m.]

Hi Josh! We must live pretty close to each other…we keep seeing the same things.

I think that is the monthly meeting of SQREAM Seattle.

From their site: “SQREAM stands for “Scooter Queers Riding Everywhere and More”.

The group is open to all gay and lesbian scooter riders and their friends

and we get together once a month for fun rides in the city.”

You already know I have a crush on them handsome, lusciously-hued scooters! Ref: “Scoot your way to insanity,” “Motore: Serving up coffee, wi-fi, scooters and more.”

christina — thanks for the URL, I’ll update the post.

regarding the neighborhood — I’m not particularly ambitious in seeking out subject material, but I feel that I make up for it in my level of obsession with inane details!

Joann: It does seem that Seattle is a Vespa kind of town, doesn’t it?
