Lately, I’ve had sushi on my mind. I can eat sushi for lunch and dinner for days in a row until my next food hankering kicks in.
It’s easy to indulge my sushi cravings in Seattle. In downtown Seattle where I live and in the International District where I work, both are saturated with oodles of scrumptious sushi spots that makes it trouble-free to cure the pang. With an abundance of sushi joints in our city, it seems more convenient to locate a sushi eatery than a pizzeria in this town.
Sushi is really healthy for you. I love it! I dream about noshing on the savory small flavorful bites of this miniature piece of art carefully wrapped in the chewy sapid seaweed, then dipped sparingly in the soy sauce and wasabi mixture and finished off with a pungent sliver of fresh ginger to cleanse my palate for the next mouthwatering morsel of sushi goodness. Delicious!
After eating heaps of sushi from various sushi hotspots locally and throughout my travels [sushi in Hawaii are the best, because the fish is served fresh-off-the-ocean, literally! Next for freshness are sushi in Seattle, because hey, we're also surrounded with water!], I

Wasabi Bistro is excellent, or at least used to be. I haven’t eaten there since December, since in addition to it being excellent sushi, it’s expensive and generally outside the range of a broke college student.
Oh geez – ignore me. Of course I see the Bistro AFTER I post, nevermind the fact that I looked three times. I’ll just blame it on the aforementioned school. ;)
Not to be contradictory..but my experiences at Blue C have been mixed…its acceptable for quick hop-in sushi, but you are not gonna get rocked by the fish. Its more about qantity I think.
Some other really good suggestions though, I gotta check em out. Awesome list!
Thanks! Yes, Blue C is not so for the top quality of the fish, but I have them on my list because I’m rather smitten with the kaiten (conveyor belt) revolving sushi and their pop Tokyo-esque chromatic environs.
Aoki, at the north end of Broadway, is quite lovely.
I keep hearing rave reviews for Toyoda Sushi in Lake City.
What about Nikko’s inside the Westin? Their all you can eat lunch was an amazing steal. Daily specials varied, but overall some of the best Sushi I ever had while I lived there. Has it gone downhill or just overlooked?
I too loved Nikko’s at Westin for their exceptional all-you-can-eat fresh sushi lunch and happy-hour spread. However, Nikko’s closed their establishment about 2 years ago. I do miss them dearly.
Mashiko in West Seattle is a must try (www.sushiwhore.com)! They have very creative rolls. I haven’t had a bad bite at Mashiko’s yet.
Nikko’s owner opened a resturant in Gig Harbor, WA named Bistro Satsuma. 5315 Pt Fosdick Dr NW in Gig Harbor, Wa. Chef Tak still caters for many of his established clientle like Ichiro and Gov. Loche. You should come to Gig Harbor and enjoy his sushi….It is outstanding
