& Phil

We have nothing against Anacortes and think that the Department of Safety is one of the better things since sliced bread. While we enjoy the opportunity to convince our friends into road trips to Fidalgo Island to see performances in the ultimate Pacific Northwest indie venue/hostel, we get pretty excited when Phil comes to Seattle and saves us the trip.

This Sunday, the special goodness of a Mt. Eerie gets magnified by a factor of the Netherlands when Phil joins Dutch architect Matthjs Bouw for “Building North Pacific America: A Lecture and Dance Party” at the Northwest Film Forum:

From the strip-malled tulip farms of the Skagit Valley to the pastoral/industrial sprawl of Sea-Tac, the astonishing complicity of nature and culture in the Northwest will be unpacked in a highly entertaining slide lecture and party. [nwff]

We’ve seen Phil Elverum steel drum + Japanese band shows, singalong shows, and impromptu recording session shows. This one sounds even more amazing. Tickets are only $4 and are available online through BrownPaperTickets — a ticket vendor that makes you feel good about service fees. [#]

We realize this is a Stranger Suggested event [#], but we totally saw the flyer for it before this week’s edition hit the streets. We were just saving it for the last minute because we didn’t want you to read about it, forget it, and then kick yourself senseless when you missed it.
