more on the mysterious Grey’s Anatomy geography

Following up on our earlier post on the topic of the fascinating geography of Grey’s Anatomy’s “Seattle” [#], we’ve turned to the wonderful world of the internet. There, we found some screen captures of last Sunday’s episode, which further highlight the fantasyland layout of the ABC version of our city.

After the jump, we indulge our obsession. Aside from the fun of watching for weird Seattle details, we should mention that we actually find the show pretty watchable.

Perhaps the best explanation of the weird geography of the show can be found in lead character Meredith Grey’s roommate posting, which describes almost every neighborhood in the city: Roommates Wanted: Two nice rooms with shared bath available immediately, close to Seattle Grace. Near coffee shop, public transportation, shopping, and convenient to almost everything. Non-smokers only please, no pets & absolutely no Bush supporters need apply. . . .
Since the house is close to the hospital, and the hospital is “close to everything” then we really shouldn’t have been surprised when the Public Market appeared on the other side of a hospital window in one of the closing shots. Nevermind that the first episode showed a hospital landing in the shadow of the Space Needle on top of Fisher Plaza or that the exteriors are on flat land without a view of the ocean, skyscrapers, or anything at all. With a magic hospital like this, who needs public transit? Just step inside Seattle Grace and your favorite tourism vista is bound to appear outside by the end of the day!

Hehe! Maybe they’re going to try to argue that they have a satellite hospital, like UW does with its Health Sciences and Roosevelt buildings. ;)

Wow, a place near a coffee shop. Now there’s a feature you should always mention on a Seattle rental. You never know when you might have to walk up to two blocks for one of those things.

ha! I clicked over to here from http://www.seattlest.com

Since you keep pimping this site over there, I thought I’d do a little dirty work over here. j/k. both are good.

I didn’t mean to be pimping, but the idea of blinging out the site and wearing some crazy pimp hats sounds strangely appealing.

yeah. how will they survive without their “mocha lattes” to get them through the day?

    a satellite hospital

except the satellite hospitals in Grey’s Anatomy are all connected by a mysterious underground / hyperspace network! 100% more awesome than the Health Sciences Express.
