Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Website

seattlecivil.jpgNever let it be said the work of UW faculty members remains locked up in research libraries. History Prof James Gregory has built a website to showcase a multi-year effort to collect, interpret, and disseminate new information and research about Seattle’s history of social movements for racial and economic justice. Visitors to the site will find oral histories, personal papers, photographs, memorabilia and the records of social & economic justice organizations in Washington State. Learn about everything from segregated Seattle to the Cannery Workers’ Strike of 1933. And this upcoming Thursday, April 7, there’s a launch event at 3pm in Gowen 1A on campus to help plan the next phase of the project.
