This week’s The Stranger [which, is mysteriously still not online], Amy Jenniges gets a page and a third to speculate not only about a possible cocaine crackdown in Seattle’s music scene but also to spin through the rumor mills about who’s getting busted and why:
… others in the music scene speculated that one of the dealers potentially tipped off the police after a brewing turf war surfaced in the past few weeks …
the final theory was that someone in the music prevalence of cocaine, went to the police. But no one has been outed as the potential informant [the stranger, 26 august 2004]
If you read only one article from this week’s edition, this is your best bet — aside from the intimate portrait of the indie rock scene, there’s all of the thrilling cloak and dagger intrigue, counter intelligence, and hints of 80s coke resurgence.
The suspense is killing me! Let’s use this metblog for good and engage in some good natured outing of informants and tips about dealer turf wars. No theory too outlandish — prizes for best entries are possbile.

For some reason, the Stranger’s website changed its weekly update time recently, right around the same time they changed their ad formatting on the site. It used to come out right around the same time as the paper edition, but now comes out late Thursday.
Yesterday I had to resort to reading the offline version: I got ink all over my fingers and had trouble juggling the pages around while reading. I really wish they’d go back to releasing the online version at the same time, though I do have to admit that the paper version is a richer read due to all the better ads.
The drug problem in Seattle is your buying too much BC Bud. The Canadians are starting to look like Columbians and Scarface dealers. Skip the BC BUD. The Mexican stuff is the same, just not ALL bud. The DEA can’t get permission to work in Canada, so its going to be you EMPLOYED and RICH Americans paying the price. Have a nice prison stay!
It’s those damn hippies from Fremont, with their rock and/or roll.
Great article over at the stranger, the intro made my blood run cold – that’s all I’m sayin.
